Gloria Majule is a playwright from Dodoma, Tanzania presently residing in Seattle, WA. She seeks to tell stories that bring multiple black voices together from across the world, and are accessible to black audiences no matter where they are. She writes primarily for and about the black diaspora.
Gloria is an inaugural recipient of Atlantic Theater Company's Judith Champion Launch Commission. Other Awards and Honors include: Selection - New York Stage and Film Artist Residency (2022), Great Plains Theatre Conference (2022) | Second Place Winner – A is For Playwriting Contest (2021) | Finalist – Alliance/Kendeda Playwriting Competition (2021), Bay Area Playwrights Festival (2021, 2020) | and Semifinalist – O'Neill National Playwrights Conference (2022), Blue Ink Playwriting Award (2022), UCROSS + Blank Theater Future of Playwriting Prize (2022), Bay Area Playwrights Festival (2022), Playwrights Realm Scratchpad Series (2020). Selected development history includes: Great Plains Theatre Commons, Alliance Theatre, Westport Country Playhouse and Aye Defy. Gloria graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University with a BA in Performing & Media Arts and Spanish, and holds an MFA in Playwriting from Yale School of Drama..
